Softball Will Play In NCAA Knoxville Regional

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech softball team (44-10) earned its 10th straight NCAA Tournament berth as it was selected to participate in the Knoxville, Tenn., regional it was announced Sunday night on the NCAA Softball selection show which aired live on ESPNU. Oklahoma State (37-17), Liberty (30-28) and No. 14 Tennessee (47-10) round out the Knoxville region.

Tech will play Oklahoma State in the first round on Friday. Times and broadcast information will be announced at a later time. The Yellow Jackets won the ACC regular season title, but were upset by Virginia in the first round of the conference tournament Friday night at Mewborn Field.

The winner of the Knoxville regional matches up with the winner of the Austin, Texas regional which features No. 3 Texas, Texas State, Houston and Louisiana-Lafayette in the Super Regionals.

Tickets for the Knoxville Regional will be on sale online on Monday, May 16, and over the phone starting at 8:30 a.m. ET. Prices are: 25.00 all-session reserved, 15.00 all-session general admission, 15.00 single-day reserved & 10.00 single day general admission. Fans are strongly encouraged to order in advance. Groups of 15 or more may order for a special rate by calling 965-974-1059. Cash is the only method of payment accepted at Lindsey Nelson Stadium the day of the event. Everyone regardless of age must have a ticket.

Georgia Tech is 18-18 (.500) all-time in NCAA Tournament play and 7-8 (.467) under three-time ACC Coach of the Year Sharon Perkins. The Yellow Jackets are making their 10th straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. In 2009, the Jackets advanced to the school’s only Super Regional.
