Softball Hosts GT-KSU Invite

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech softball team is set to host the Georgia Tech-KSU Invite this weekend when it welcomes Georgia State, Stony Brook and No. 21/22 Tulsa to Mewborn Field. The tournament features seven games over the three-day span.

The Georgia Tech softball team picked up four wins over the weekend at the Panther Invite hosted at Mewborn Field. The Jackets outscored their opponents 34-13 and outhit their competition 40-19.

Kylie Kleinschmidt was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week after picking up two wins last weekend against Indiana and Bowling Green State to improve to 4-0 in the circle. She pitched two complete games, including her second career shutout against Bowling Green State.

Against the Bowling Green, Kleinschmidt struck out a career-high 12 batters, her previous was nine, including eight of the first 11 batters. She allowed just six hits in 59 batters and one unearned run.

The Jackets are in the top three in the ACC in eight statistical categories including tied for first in home runs (9), tied for second in RBI (45), and third in average (.326), slugging percentage (.516), on-base percentage (.407), runs (47) and total bases (98).

Against Opponents
The Jackets have never played Stony Brook and Tulsa before, and Tech owns a 42-20 record against Georgia State. Tech has won 13 of the last 15 games against the Panthers and the teams’ last meet was April 11, 2012 when the Jackets edged Georgia State 3-2.
