Softball Adds Florida Transfer Kristine Priebe

Aug. 10, 2009

ATLANTA – Former University of Florida catcher Kristine Priebe has signed a financial aid agreement and will transfer to Georgia Tech, head coach Sharon Perkins announced today. Priebe, who will be a junior when classes begin next week, can also play both corner infield positions. She is from Moorpark, Calif., and will be eligible for the upcoming 2010 season.

“Kristine is a great addition to our team,” Perkins said. “She gives us a lot of depth behind the plate and in the infield, while bringing a wealth of experience having played in the Women’s College World Series the past two years with the Gators.”

Priebe played in 20 games for the Gators last season, making nine starts. She had two home runs and seven RBI, while recording a .500 on-base percentage and a 1.000 fielding percentage. She was on the SEC Honor Roll in each of her two seasons in Gainesville. As a freshman, she saw action in 29 games and started seven times.

Priebe is the second Florida transfer in as many years for the Yellow Jackets. Rising junior Kristen Adkins came to Atlanta after one year at Florida and was a second-team All-ACC selection last year as a pitcher and third baseman.
