Atlanta, GA – Russell Athletic and the Georgia Tech Athletic Association today announced an agreement that designates the Atlanta-based athletic apparel brand as the first “performance institution” and Official Uniform and Sideline Supplier of Georgia Tech athletics through 2018. The ten-year, all-inclusive outfitting agreement gives Russell Athletic exclusive rights as uniform provider for all Georgia Tech varsity teams and coaches in addition to category exclusivity for licensed apparel at all of the Institute’s bookstores and Stadium/Arena concessions.

Becoming the first “Performance Institution” allows Russell Athletic to work with Georgia Tech student athletes and facilities as a performance lab for the testing of new product concepts, technologies and/or innovations. Other elements of the renewal include permanent signage as the “Official Team Apparel of Georgia Tech Athletics” at all athletic venues, Russell Athletic logo on all team marketing collateral and two 30-second in game video board promotional spots. Russell will also provide two positions for Georgia tech students as part of an internship program. Spalding will provide hard goods for the schools athletic programs. Earlier this month, Russell launched a new national television spot featuring Georgia Tech baseball.

“We are proud to continue our long-term partnership with the highest caliber academic institution and to provide elite student athletes with high performance athletic apparel,” said Executive Vice President, Gary Barfield. “Partnering with a renowned institution like Georgia Tech, is a natural fit for the launch of our inaugural “Performance Institution.” This will create a unique opportunity to test and develop cutting edge technology for our products while working with some of the finest athletes in the country.

“Georgia Tech is honored to continue a relationship with our longtime partner, Russell Athletic. It is obvious there is a renewed sense of commitment to our program, its coaches and student athletes,” said Dan Radakovich, Director of Athletics, Georgia Tech. “Everyone associated with Georgia Tech can be excited about the initiatives this relationship will produce in coming years.”
