No. 15 Men’s Tennis Tops Boston College, 5-2

DEDHAM, Mass. – Georgia Tech men’s tennis (12-3, 4-1 ACC) topped Boston College (3-9, 0-5), 5-2, on Friday afternoon. The Jackets travel to South Bend, Ind. for a noon matchup with the Fighting Irish on Sunday, April 2.

Singles Update: After dropping the doubles point, the Jackets tied it up at 1-1 when Christopher Eubanks took his match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. The Eagles took back the lead at 2-1 with Daniel Yun dropping his match, 6-4, 6-0. Senior Cole Fiegel tied it back up at 2-2 with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at the four spot. Carlos Divar gave Tech its first lead of the match with a 6-3, 6-4 win in the three spot. Senior Carlos Benito clinched the win for the Jackets at 4-2 with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-0 win at the two position. Freshman Chris Yun gave the Jacket the final points of the match with a 6-3, 6-2 victory.

Doubles Update: The Jackets dropped the doubles point to the Eagles. Eubanks and Daniel Yun fell 6-4 to give the Eagles the advantage in the doubles point. Fiegel and Michael Kay evened the score with a 6-4 victory over Conor and Sean Mullins. The Eagles sealed the doubles point with a 7-5 win over Benito and Divar.

Head coach Kenny Thorne says: “It was a road win and we will take it. We still have to improve in a couple of areas. The guys are battling strong, and now we turn all our attention to Notre Dame.”
