No. 12 Women’s Tennis Prepares for Pair of Matches

THE FLATS – The 12th-ranked Georgia Tech women’s tennis team returns to the courts on Friday at 3 p.m. to welcome No. 6 Georgia in a ‘Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate’ matchup at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex. The Jackets then open ACC play on the road, visiting No. 19 Florida State for a noon matinee on Sunday in Tallahassee.

THE SCENE: Tech boasts a 5-1 record on the young season after dropping its first match of the year in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. The Jackets are perfect at home with a 3-0 mark and look to push it to 4-0 on Friday against Georgia. The in-state rivals met last season in Athens with Nami Otsuka clinching a 4-3 win for the Jackets, marking just the second-ever win in Athens for Tech. Georgia also comes into the matchup carrying a 5-1 ledger, having fallen only to Duke in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.

After hosting Georgia on Friday, the Jackets face a quick turnaround to open ACC play, visiting No. 19 Florida State on Sunday. Owning a 7-2 record on the year, the Seminoles are 4-0 at home this season. Tech defeated FSU in Atlanta last season, 5-2.

PARKING: Parking for Friday’s match will be available in the McCamish Lot.
