ATLANTA – Winners of nine straight games, the No. 11/8 Georgia Tech Softball team (19-2) hosts the inaugural Springhill Suites Buckhead Classic this weekend at Mewborn Field. Games begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Fordham (10-4), Georgia State (12-6) and Mercer (14-8) are also participating.

Admission to Mewborn Field is free all weekend, and fans who cannot make it can follow all of the action with free streaming video. Georgia Tech is coming off a 7-3 win at Georgia State on Tuesday night. This tournament is part of a six-game homestand for the Yellow Jackets before they embark on a seven day spring break trip to North Carolina and Texas.

Jen Yee continues to lead the ACC in just about every offensive category as she has hit safely in 20 of 21 games this season. The North Delta, British Columbia native is batting .597 with 35 runs scored, four doubles, a triple, 13 home runs and 31 RBI. She is slugging 1.323 and has an on-base percentage of .691. Freshman Caitlin Jordan is second on the team with a .400 average, while freshman Hope Rush is second with eight home runs and 23 RBI. In the circle, Rush is 9-2 with a 1.51 ERA in 10 starts. Junior Kristen Adkins and sophomore Jessica Coan are both 5-0 and Coan is averaging over 1.5 strikeouts an inning.

The Yellow Jackets are batting .307 as a team and have hit 43 home runs in 21 games. They have a staff ERA of 1.71 and are holding team’s to a .212 average.
