THE FLATS – Matt Kuchar became the third straight Georgia Tech alumnus to record a top-10 finish in the PGA Tour in as many weeks when he tied for eighth last weekend at the Northern Trust Open.

The former Yellow Jackets All-American and seven-time PGA Tour champion shot four rounds in the 60s (69-69-69-67) and finished 72 holes at 10-under-par 274 at famed Riviera Country Club, five strokes off the pace of Bubba Watson. The performance improved his FedEx Cup standing to 88th, a jump of 37 positions.

It was the third straight week a Yellow Jacket has finished in the top 10 – Bryce Molder tied for sixth at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, and Roberto Castro tied for eighth at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Meanwhile, Stewart Cink (T-45) and Cameron Tringale (T-68) both made the cut at Riviera, posting scores of 282 (-2) and 288 (+4), respectively. Tringale faded to an 80 on Sunday. Molder and Castro missed the cut.

The PGA Tour moves on to begin its Florida swing this week with The Honda Classic at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. Cink and Tringale will move along with it and are in the field along with Chesson Hadley and Nicholas Thompson, who return after a week off. Ollie Schniederjans also is in the field, using his third sponsor exemption of the spring.

The Web.com Tour resumes play March 17-20, when the tour returns to the States with the Chitimacha Louisiana Open. Richard Werenski, with a tie for second place in the last event in Colombia, is off to a fast start.
