Men's Tennis Travels To North Carolina, Wake Forest

ATLANTA (April 8) – After winning two of three matches last week, the Georgia Tech men’s tennis team (10-8, 4-1 ACC) faces two ranked Atlantic Coast Conference opponents on the road this weekend, playing at 25th-ranked North Carolina Saturday at 1 p.m., followed by No. 72 Wake Forest Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Yellow Jackets picked up ACC wins last week over Clemson and Virginia to give them some momentum going into this week’s key matchups. North Carolina (12-2, 3-0) is just ahead Tech in the conference standings with a record of 3-0. Wake Forest has a record of 9-9 overall, 1-3 in the ACC.

Freshman Roger Anderson (Pietermaritzburg, South Africa), with a dual match record of 10-4, was the key in the Jackets’ lineup in last week’s matches. Put on the line against Clemson, Anderson won a third-set tie-breaker over Brad Emendorfer to clinch the upset victory for the Jackets.

Another freshman coming up big for the Jackets is David Wright (Guayaquil, Ecuador). He won all three of his matches last week to improve his record to 10-6 in dual matches. in doubles, Wright and Anderson (6-2 in dual match play) have played well together, winning their last two matches and four of their last five.
