Mead Named To COBRA Magazine All-National First Team

ATLANTA – For the second year in a row, Monique Mead has earned COBRA Magazine All-National team honors. After earning a spot on the second team in 2010, the junior was named to the first team this season also earning the title of All-Southeast Region Player of the Year.

Mead recorded 588 kills in 2011 for a 5.03 kills/set average which leads the ACC and is second in the nation. She has also tallied 5.70 points/set which is also atop the ACC and second in the country.

In 2011, Mead recorded 11 double-doubles, 14 matches with at least 20 kills, and netted double figure kills in every match. She also averaged 2.56 digs/set and 0.79 blocks.

In the final game of her junior season she moved into second place on the single season kills list passing Lynette Moster’s 585 kills recorded in 2004. Mead also cracked the top-10 in the career kills category at NC State and at the end of the season sits in eighth place with 1,459 total kills during her three year career on the Flats.

Earlier this year, Mead was named an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American for the third year in a row and found a spot on the All-ACC team.
