Kurey Finishes as Runner-Up in Consolation Draw

ATHENS, Ga. – Senior Megan Kurey of the Georgia Tech women’s tennis team finished as the runner-up in the consolation singles draw at the USTA/ITA Southeast Regionals at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of Georgia.

Kurey, who won four-straight matches to advance to the consolation singles final after being eliminated from the main draw in the first round, faced FIU’s Maryna Veksler in the final. Veksler defeated Kurey in the first set, 6-2. Kurey rallied to win set two, 7-5, but eventually fell in the tie breaker 1-0 (9).

Kurey and the Yellow Jackets are back in action this weekend, traveling to Alabama for the Crimson Tide Invitational from Oct. 30 – Nov. 1.
