>> Two teams tied in the overall ACC standings and neck-and-neck in the Top 25 polls, No. 16 Georgia Tech and No. 17 NC State, collide this weekend in a key match-up at Russ Chandler Stadium.

>> The series is underway Friday at 7 p.m., continues Saturday at 6 p.m. and concludes Sunday at 1 p.m. All three games can be seen live on ESPN3 with Richard Musterer and Roddy Jones, while Nolan Alexander and Wade Rogers have the call on WREK 91.1 FM.

>> The Jackets have won four of their last five, including a series win over then-No. 5 Virginia last weekend. The Wolfpack extended their winning streak to 11 games thanks to sweeps of its last two ACC foes.

>> Reigning ACC Pitcher of the Week Buck Farmer is set for his 45th career start Friday, putting his 7-1 record and 1.41 ERA on the line. He is coming off a complete-game, 10-strikeout performance in last Friday’s 2-1 win over Virginia.

>> Tech’s offense recorded its 15th double-digit run game this season with a 14-1 thumping of Savannah State Tuesday night. The Jackets launched five homers, including two from Daniel Palka and one from Zane Evans. Those two are tied for the ACC’s homer lead.

>> Senior CF Brandon Thomas leads the ACC in hitting at .402, and the Jackets .321 average as a team is also a league-best. Five Tech players are among the ACC’s top 18 in hitting. In conference games, junior LF Kyle Wren’s .446 average is second-best.

>> Tech is 71-48 all-time versus NC State and had a nine-game winning streak in the series snapped last year in Raleigh.
