Jackets To Take on Clemson on The Road

Nov. 5, 2010

ATLANTA – In their first road meet of the season, the Georgia Tech men’s and women’s swimming and diving squads will head up Interstate 85 to Clemson, S.C. where they will take on the Tigers at McHugh Natatorium at 6 p.m.

This is the Jackets first conference meet of the 2010-11 season as well as their first road trip of the year.

“We are excited to get into the conference portion of our season,” said Head Coach Courtney Shealy Hart. “Clemson provides some tough competition each time we match up with them and we are hoping that the momentum from our meet on Wednesday will carry into this meet.”

The Clemson men hold the series record at 37-31 but Tech has taken home the victory in the last two meets. On the women’s side, Clemson has recorded wins eight out of the nine times the two teams have met with the Jackets lone victory coming in the 2004-05 season.

Last season, the two teams met in Atlanta in a Quad Meet with Miami and Western Kentucky. The men earned a 165-135 victory while the women fell, 160-138.

The Jackets are coming off of a split with in-state rivals Georgia and Emory in a Tri-Meet hosted at the Aquatic Center on Wednesday. Both the men’s and women’s teams fell to Georgia while routing Emory.
