Jacket Pair Claims Doubles Title

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Yellow Jacket pair of Valeriya Deminova and Victoria Flores claimed the flight three doubles title on day two of the 32nd annual Debbie Southern Fall Classic on Saturday, while two Jackets also picked up singles wins. Day two of the tournament featured one round of doubles and singles on the campus of Furman University.

The final round of doubles competition kicked off day two with two Georgia Tech tandems taking the court. Kenya Jones and Dalila Said dropped a hard-fought 8-5 decision, while the Tech pair of Deminova and Flores took on Florida State’s Nandini Das and Ariana Rahmanparast for the title. Playing to the wire, Deminova and Flores captured the title, 8-7 (3).

In round two of singles action, Flores and Said pocketed straight-set victories to clinch spots in the finals. Flores uprooted Emma Kurtz of Vanderbilt, 6-3, 7-5, while Said downed Georgia Walker of Furman, 6-4, 6-4.

The final round of singles play will begin on Sunday at 9 a.m. Flores and Said will both compete for their flight titles in singles play.
