THE FLATS – It’s been a terrific week for Georgia Tech athletics, as the Yellow Jackets have racked up accomplishments and accolades at a remarkable clip over the past seven days.

PASTNER NAMED ACC COACH OF THE YEAR, LAMMERS NAMED ACC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
The Atlantic Coast Conference’s coaches and media recognized Georgia Tech men’s basketball’s remarkable regular season by doling out two of its most prestigious individual honors to Yellow Jackets – Coach of the Year Josh Pastner and Defensive Player of the Year Ben Lammers. Additionally, Lammers was named second-team all-conference and Josh Okogie was named to the ACC’s all-freshman team. Tech opens postseason play on Tuesday at 7 p.m. versus Pittsburgh at the ACC Tournament in Brooklyn, N.Y. (TV: ESPNU).

PAN NAMED ACC FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR
Georgia Tech freshman Francesca Pan swept the ACC women’s basketball Freshman of the Year awards, earning the honor from the media last Wednesday and receiving the coaches’ recognition on Monday. Pan and the Yellow Jackets won their opening-round ACC Tournament game over Boston College before falling to No. 17-ranked Miami in the second round. Tech will learn its postseason destination next Monday.

BART NAMED NATIONAL, ACC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Georgia Tech baseball’s Joey Bart was named National and ACC Player of the Week after belting five home runs in four games last week. Bart leads the nation with seven home runs on the young season.

BARTLETT QUALIFIES FOR NATIONALS
Georgia Tech’s Avery Bartlett received an invitation to this weekend’s NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, beginning on Friday in College Station, Texas. Bartlett will compete in the 800m run after breaking Georgia Tech’s 19-year-old school record in the event at the ACC Championships.

WOMEN’S TENNIS RANKED NO. 5 NATIONALLY
Georgia Tech women’s tennis came in at No. 5 in last week’s ITA national rankings and followed that up with a 6-1 win over No. 48 Virginia Tech and a 5-2 triumph at Clemson last weekend. Now at 12-2 overall and 3-0 in ACC play, the Yellow Jackets host Louisville on Sunday at noon.

MEN’S TENNIS RANKED NO. 12 NATIONALLY
Georgia Tech men’s tennis was ranked No. 12 nationally by the ITA last week and responded by sweeping Clemson on the road and downing No. 33 Florida State, 5-2, at home. The Yellow Jackets (9-2, 2-0 ACC) continue ACC action on Sunday at Miami.

BASEBALL RANKED NO. 17 NATIONALLY
Ranked No. 17 nationally by Baseball America last week, Georgia Tech baseball went 3-1 on the week, outscoring its opponents (Georgia State and Belmont) by a combined 39-21. The Yellow Jackets open ACC play this weekend with a three-game conference series at Miami.

BOBBY DODD STADIUM HOSTS SOLDOUT ATLANTA UNITED DEBUT
The nation’s oldest major college football stadium became the newest Major League Soccer venue when Atlanta United played its inaugural match versus New York Red Bulls on Sunday evening at Bobby Dodd Stadium. Following months of preparations by Georgia Tech athletics and Atlanta United, Bobby Dodd Stadium welcomed a sellout crowd of 55,297, which was the largest gathering at an on-campus college athletics facility in 2017 and the fourth-largest attendance for a soccer game worldwide last weekend.
