THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech swimming & diving team defeated Emory University on Saturday in both the men’s and women’s dual meets, and diving records were broken in the process. It was the Jackets’ last home meet of the season, and the program celebrated its Senior Day.

“I thought both of our squads raced really well,” head coach Courtney Shealy Hart said. “It’s great to see some great swims as we get into championship season. We’re sad that it’s the last dual meet for 13 seniors. They did a great job of leading this team throughout the year.”

Shannon Lumbra, who on Tuesday was named the ACC Female Diver of the Week for the second time this season, broke school records in both the 1-meter and 3-meter (340.65) diving competitions with dives of 321.15 and 340.65, respectively. Brad Homza also put his name in the record books, breaking the Tech record in the men’s 1-meter with a dive of 379.20. Homza also set a personal-best in the 3-meter dive, recording a score of 391.73.

“I’m very proud of Shannon for her performance at her last in-season competition,” diving coach John Ames said. “Obviously, the records are icing on the cake for her. She’s been a great team captain, leader and role model for the younger divers this season. We’re looking forward to a great postseason from her.”

The Tech men defeated the Eagles by a score of 147-82, while the Tech women won by a score of 131.5-106.5. Georgia Tech was able to record the top time in 19 of the 22 swimming events and won all four diving competitions against the defending Division III champions.

13 seniors were honored at their last home meet, including NCAA participants Youssef Hammoud, Ricky Lehner, Shannon Lumbra and Mats Westergren.
