GEORGIA TECH YELLOW JACKETS (16-7) vs. AUBURN TIGERS (15-9)
March 24, 2015
Atlanta, Ga. • Russ Chandler Stadium (4,157)
ESPN3: Watch Live // Radio: WREK 91.1 FM Atlanta Listen Live

>> Before embarking on an eight-game road trip, Georgia Tech hosts Auburn Tuesday night at Russ Chandler Stadium. The game airs live ESPN3 and WREK 91.1 FM Atlanta. Live audio can also be accessed at RamblinWreck.com and via WREK on the TuneIn app.

>> The Yellow Jackets are welcoming the Tigers to the Flats for the first time since 2005 and looking to split the two-game season series. Tech trails the all-time series 119-105-5, but owns a 62-48-2 advantage in Atlanta. Auburn is Tech’s second-most common opponent, having faced the Tigers 229 previous times.

>> After Tuesday’s game, the Yellow Jackets’ season-long eight-game road trip includes stops at Louisville, Georgia and Virginia Tech. Following the extended road swing, Tech plays 14 of its next 18 at Russ Chandler Stadium.

>> Tech is outscoring opponents 43-12 over the final two innings plus extras (26-5 in the eighth, 14-5 in the ninth and 3-2 in extras). The Jackets have three walk-off wins — including Saturday’s 6-5 victory over North Carolina — and have won four times when trailing in the eighth inning (4-6) and three times when trailing in the ninth (3-5). Nine of Tech’s 16 wins this year are come-from-behind victories.

>> The Jackets have benefited from strong late-game work from sophomore RHP Zac Ryan, who is already 5-0 with three saves and a 2.19 ERA. Of his team-best 12 appearances, nine have been scoreless, including seven of the last nine. Ryan is the ACC’s only pitcher with five or more wins AND three or more saves.

>> Senior Daniel Spingola brings an 11-game hitting streak into the game, which ties a career high. He’s hitting .348 over the streak (16-for-46) with three doubles, a home run, six RBI and nine runs. Spingola has reached safely in 14 straight games, while Connor Justus has reached safely in nine straight games. Justus was 4-for-8 in the North Carolina series and also drew three walks. Justus is 15 for his last 45 (.333) at the plate with three doubles, eight RBI, seven walks and a .423 on-base percentage after opening the season just five for his first 30 (.167).

>> Senior lefty Devin Stanton gets the nod Tuesday night versus Auburn, which marks his first start since March 3 versus Ohio. Stanton was 5-3 with a 2.24 ERA last year in 12 starts as he rebounded from Tommy John surgery in 2012.

>> Junior Matt Gonzalez has at least one hit in 10 of his last 11 games, including a 4-for-8 effort in the final two games of the UNC series. Gonzalez is hitting .390 over that 11-game stretch (16-for-41) with six doubles, two home runs and 10 RBI. He’s raised his average nearly 100 points to .278 over the last two weeks of the season.

>> Danny Hall is in his 22nd season as Tech’s head coach (28th overall), and his last four seasons on the Flats have resulted in two ACC tournament titles (2012, 2014) and an ACC regular-season crown (2011). Hall is a two-time ACC Coach of the Year and is among the 15 winningest active coaches in college baseball with 1,115 wins.
