Heppler, who just completed his 20th season coaching the Yellow Jackets, is serving as head coach of the USA team for the second time, while Schniederjans is a member of the American team for the second straight year. Albertson is taking his first turn representing the U.S.

The two Tech players graduated on May 2 and completed stellar careers for the Yellow Jackets in the NCAA Championship earlier this month. Schniederjans has been named a first-team All-American and the ACC Player of the Year each of the past two years, while Albertson won the 2015 Byron Nelson Award, won his second ACC title this spring and made the All-ACC team for the fourth time. The finished their careers ranked No. 2-3 in scoring average.

The United States leads the all-time series, which dates back to 1997 at Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club and Lodge, by 9-8-1. The European team captured the Cup last year at Walton Heath Golf Club in Surrey, England. Schniederjans compiled a 3-1 personal record, teaming with Brandon Hagy to win their first-round four-ball match and capturing both of his singles matches.

Nine Georgia Tech golfers have participated in this Ryder Cup-style competition since 1998, when All-Americans Matt Kuchar and Bryce Molder competed for the American side. Kuchar and Molder also competed in 1999, followed by Molder again in 2001, Roberto Castro in 2005 and 2006, Kevin Larsen in 2006, Chesson Hadley in 2008, Cameron Tringale in 2009, James White in 2012, and Schniederjans in 2014.
