@GT_Golf - #ProJackets Update

March 17, 2015

THE FLATS – Nicholas Thompson and Cameron Tringale each tied for 17th place and five former Georgia Tech golfers made the cut at last weekend’s Valspar Championship at Palm Harbor, Fla.

Thompson and Tringale each fired 3-under-par totals of 281 for the weekend on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort. Both players moved into the top 80 in the FedEx Cup rankings.

Matt Kuchar (-1) tied for 33rd, Chesson Hadley (+1) tied for 44th, and Stewart Cink (+4) tied for 60th place. Bryce Molder and Roberto Castro failed to play on the weekend, as did Tech senior Ollie Schniederjans, who made his first PGA Tour start on a sponsor’s exemption.

Cink, Hadley and Thompson are in the field for this week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill Club and Lodge in Orlando, Fla., with Molder as an alternate.

Scores were low at the Web.com Tour’s Brasil Champions presented by HSBC in Sao Paulo, Brasil, where Matt Weibring shot 12-under-par 272 but tied for 35th place, 10 shots off the lead. Richard Werenski (-11) tied for 42nd place, while Troy Matteson (-7) tied for 59th. Only Werenski is in the field for this week’s Chile Classic in Santiago.

On the SwingThought.com Tour, Shun Yat Hak posted his best finish, a tie for 10th place at the Cardinal Classic at Diamondhead in Mississippi. Hak, Seth Reeves and James White will tee it up in Mississippi again later this week.

John-Tyler Griffin and Bo Andrews are back in action this week after a week off on the eGolf Tour with the Nova Tax Group Open in Huntersville, N.C.
