Golfers Drop to 14th at Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters

Las Vegas, Nev. – Chesson Hadley and James White shot 79s to pace Georgia Tech Saturday on a day when high scores ruled, and the Yellow Jackets posted the day’s highest score of 322 and fell to 14th place after 36 holes of the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters.

The Yellow Jackets are 29 shots behind host UNLV entering the Sunday’s final round on the 7,510-yard, par 72 Southern Highlands Golf Club. The 18th-ranked Rebels shot the day’s best round of 297, and stand at 17-over-par 593, seven shots ahead of No. 11 UCLA. No. 7 Texas A&M is two shots back of the Bruins in third place, followed by No. 17 Southern California. No. 12 Arizona State and No. 16 Texas Tech are tied for fifth place.

The 15-team field includes 13 of the nation’s top 30 teams.

Paul Haley shot 81 and John-Tyler Griffin added an 83 Saturday to count for the Yellow Jackets.

T.J. Vogel of Southern California and Jesper Kennegard of Arizona State are tied for the individual lead at 71-72 – 143 entering Sunday’s final round. Hadley is tied for 25th place at 9-over 153, while White is tied for 28th at 10-over 154.

The Yellow Jackets tee off at 12:12 p.m. Eastern time Sunday for the final round.
