Georgia Tech Track In 10th Place After Day Two At ACC Championships

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Georgia Tech track and field team scored points in the men’s and women’s long jumps, and the heptathlon Friday on day two of the ACC Outdoor Championships at NC State’s Paul H. Derr Track. Both the men’s and women’s teams are in 10th place heading into the final day of competition Saturday.

Julienne McKee placed fourth in the long jump with a distance of 6.23m (20’5¼”) to earn Tech five team points and Donjhae Jones took seventh to add two team points with a jump of 6.07m (19’11”).

On the men’s side, Myles McDavid took sixth in the long jump to put up three team points (7.40m; 24’3½”) and Jonathan Gardner’s eighth-place finish (7.18m; 23’6¾”) tacked on one additional point.

Monique Pate tallied 4,647 points in the heptathlon en route to a seventh-place finish and two team points.

On the track, three Jackets qualified for the final rounds of their events. Perron Jones qualified for the 100-meter finals with a time of 10.56.

In the 800-meter prelims Brandon Lasater (1:49.97) took second and Zack Fanelty (1:50.64) took eighth to qualify for the final round on Saturday.

The third and final day of ACC Championship competition begins Saturday at 11:30 a.m. with men’s pole vault. Finals are set in four men’s and three women’s field events. Running events will be held from 4 until approximately 8 p.m., when 10 men’s and 10 women’s finals are slated.

Live video streaming of the Championships will be available beginning at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Live results will be available throughout the day.
