Georgia Tech Tennis Set For Final Weekend Of 2013 Regular Season

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech women’s tennis team takes to the road for the final weekend of the 2013 regular season with matches at Wake Forest and NC State on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

The Yellow Jackets will play at Wake Forest at 12 p.m. Saturday and at NC State at 1 p.m. Sunday. Live scoring for both matches is available through RamblinWreck.com.

The Yellow Jackets head to the Old North State with an 11-8 overall record, a 5-4 ACC mark and ranked No. 23 in the latest ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings. Tech is tied with Duke for fifth in the ACC standings with the Yellow Jackets holding the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Blue Devils.

The Demon Deacons enter Saturday’s match with a 3-16 overall record and 2-7 in the conference. NC State is 13-6 overall and 4-5 in the ACC.

Wake Forest leads the all-time series with Tech 21-11 but the Jackets have won nine of the last 10 meetings dating to 2002. Georgia Tech is 24-12 all-time against the Pack and Tech has won 17 straight matches. The Jackets haven’t lost to NC State since March 7, 1998.

Senior Elizabeth Kilborn leads the Yellow Jackets as the Tech captain is ranked No. 86. The Marietta, Ga., native enters the final weekend with 14 singles wins this year, including five over ranked opponents. Freshman Kendal Woodard is ranked No. 98 and has a team-best 19 singles wins. Woodard has four wins over ranked opponents and a 10-4 mark at No. 2 singles.

Wake Forest senior Kathryn Talbert is the only ranked Demon Deacon at No. 99. NC State junior Joelle Kissell, ranked No. 46, and senior Tatiana Illova, ranked No. 115, lead the Wolfpack.

In doubles, Woodard and fellow freshman Megan Kurey lead the Yellow Jackets with a 20-5 overall record, a 16-2 mark in dual matches and a 7-1 ACC record. The Yellow Jacket pair is ranked No. 57 and has played No. 1 doubles for Georgia Tech most of the spring.

Neither Wake Forest nor NC State have a ranked doubles team.
