@GaTechSoftball Announces 2015 Schedule

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech softball team released its 2015 schedule, which features 25 games against 12 2014 NCAA Tournament participants and 22 home games at Mewborn Field. The Yellow Jackets kick off the 53-game slate Feb. 6-8 at the FAU Tournament in Boca Raton, Fla.

Twelve of the teams Tech plays this season advanced to a 2014 NCAA Regional (Kansas, Michigan, Nebraska, USC Upstate, Tennessee, Louisville, Georgia, Notre Dame, Alabama, NC State, Texas A&M, Florida State), with six of those teams reaching the Super Regionals (Michigan, Nebraska, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Florida State), and the Crimson Tide and Seminoles reaching the Women’s College World Series.  

After opening the season in Boca Raton, Fla., the Jackets head back to the Sunshine State for the Florida State Unconquered Invitational Feb. 13-14 to play the likes of Michigan, Nebraska and Western Kentucky.

The Jackets return home to host a pair of midweek games Feb. 18 against USC Upstate, before the Georgia Tech-Georgia State Invitational Feb. 20-21, which includes Mount St. Mary’s, Savannah State, Alcorn and Presbyterian.

 

The Jackets open ACC play at home against Louisville (Feb. 28-March 1). Additional home ACC opponents include Pittsburgh (March 14-15), NC State (March 28-29) and Florida State (April 25-26).

 

The Jackets play 31 road games, including ACC series at Virginia (March 7-8), Notre Dame (March 21-22), North Carolina (April 11-12) and Boston College (April 18-19).

 

Virginia Tech is set to host the 2015 ACC Tournament May 7-9 in Blacksburg, Va.

 

The annual two-game series against Georgia is slated to start in Atlanta on March 18 and the Jackets head to Athens on April 8.

 

In addition to Georgia, the Yellow Jackets’ face stout non-conference competition during the regular season with games at Tennessee (Feb. 24), Alabama (March 25) and a three-game series at Texas A&M (April 3-4).

Georgia Tech’s additional non-conference matchups include home and away games with Jacksonville State (March 11, April 15), at Troy (March 4), at Georgia State (March 24) and at Kennesaw State (April 1).
