THE FLATS – Georgia Tech’s annual spring football game, which attracted nearly 20,000 fans last year, has evolved into a day-long roster of activities.

Friday Night on the Flats, presented by CBC National Bank, begins at 3 p.m. when the nationally-ranked Georgia Tech baseball team hosts NC State at Russ Chandler Stadium. At 5:30 p.m., Wreckfest opens on Techwood Drive – the street East of Bobby DoddStadium — with concessions, inflatables for the kids, official GT merchandizing and a concert by Southside of the Tracks.

The football game kicks-off at 7:30 p.m. on Grant Field. Immediately following the abbreviated game there will be fireworks (presented by Atlantic Station) and a post-game concert.

Admission to Wreckfest, the game, fireworks and concerts is free. Tickets to Friday’s baseball game are $4.

“Friday Night on the Flats is an event that everyone can enjoy,” Georgia Tech associate athletic director Rick Thorpe said. “With pre-game activities for the kids and the fireworks, it’s a perfect spring outing for families. But, with the concerts and the football game, it’s also a great event for students and Yellow Jacket fans of all ages.”

Fans should note that two streets adjacent to Bobby Dodd Stadium – Techwood Drive and Bobby Dodd Way – will be closed to traffic. A list of available parking lots is listed below.

The game offers fans a sneak peek at the 2013 Yellow Jackets, which return 15 starters from a team that played in the ACC Championship Game. Tech has 55 returning letterwinners and 24 freshmen who redshirted last season.
