Fisher and Miller Named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week

ATLANTA – Michael Fisher and Kristi Miller were named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, March 26, 2007.

Fisher, a junior from Nashville, Tenn., helped the Yellow Jackets baseball team to a 3-1 record on the week, including a 2-1 series win at Duke over the weekend. He hit .412 in four games on the week, including a .500 mark against Duke (7-for-14) over the weekend. Fisher had a .714 slugging percentage on the weekend, as three of his seven hits were doubles. He drove in the first run of the series against Duke (3/23) and doubled in the top of the ninth inning before coming around to score the winnning run in Tech’s 3-2 victory Friday afternoon. Fisher had three of the Yellow Jackets’ eight hits in the series opener before recording two of Tech’s six hits in the second game of the series. He has now started 93-straight games for the Yellow Jackets, 92 of which have come at shortstop.

Miller, a junior from Marysville, Mich., helped Georgia Tech women’s tennis team to a pair of victories over teams ranked in the top-15 in the nation over the weekend (No. 9 Miami and No. 15 Florida State). She went 3-1 overall on the week, with her only blemish coming against the nation’s No. 1 singles player, Audra Cohen of Miami. Miller teamed with Whitney McCray to record a pair of 8-3 wins over doubles opponents ranked in the top-30 in the nation. She also posted a straight-set victory over 76th-ranked Nicola Slater of FSU. The Jackets improved to 4-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference to move into a tie for second place in the league.
