Cross Country Prepares for Battle in Beantown

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s and women’s cross country teams prepare for their second meet of the season as the Jackets head to Jamaica Plains, Mass. Friday, Sept. 21 for the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown hosted by Boston College.

The meet begins with the women’s 5K set for 3 p.m. followed by the men’s 8K that is slated for a 3:30 p.m. start. The Jackets will compete against a total of 27 competitors, including nine nationally ranked teams.

The women face five teams in the top-30: No. 11 Providence, No. 22 Syracuse, No. 24 Minnesota and No. 27 Dartmouth. The men also take on ranked squads: No. 10 Syracuse, No. 12 Campbell, No. 17 Virginia, No. 26 Washington and No. 30 Ole Miss.

In the most recent USTFCCCA south regional poll, Tech women ranked third after Georgia and Florida State, while the men came in ranked 11th.

Friday’s meet marks the first time the Jackets participate at the Battle in Beantown. The White and Gold look to continue their success this season as both squads placed first at the Bulldog Invitational. Avery Bartlett grabbed a first place finish among the men, while Mary Prouty finished second overall for the women.
