Cross Country Back in Action

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s cross country teams return to action Saturday afternoon when they compete in the Roy Griak Invitational in St. Paul, Minn. The men take on their second 8k of the season in the Merrill Fischbein Men’s Gold at 1:20 p.m. ET while the women race another 6k in the Jack Johnson Women’s Gold on the Les Bolstad Golf Course at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Team Update: Freshmen Frank Pittman and Andrew Kent will make their collegiate debut for the Jackets having previously raced unattached against Georgia and Kennesaw State with times of 26:39.13 and 26:22.51.

Junior Nahom Solomon and sophomore Mary Prouty led the Jackets for the men and women in the season opener. Solomon placed second overall with a time of 25:15.13 in the 8k and Prouty came in sixth with a time of 18:24.50.

The Field: The field on Saturday consists of 36 teams in the women’s race and 30 in the men’s. The Jackets will face some ACC opposition for the first time this season with Duke and Pittsburgh in the field for both teams.
