Alysha Rudnik Named ACC Player Of The Week

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech catcher and third baseman Alysha Rudnik was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week the league office announced Tuesday.

It marks second time this season Rudnik has earned the weekly award.

The junior led Georgia Tech to a 3-1 record last week, including a 2-1 record in conference play. She posted a .750 (9-for-12) batting average, seven runs, three doubles and a home run. In the three-game series against NC State she batted .800.

In a midweek contest against Kennesaw State, Rudnik led the Jackets to a 17-3 win with two runs and two RBI.

Rudnik was a force at the plate in Friday’s doubleheader, going 3-for-4 in game one with two doubles and a two-run home run, and 3-for-3 with two runs and another double in the night cap. The Lawrenceville, Ga., native accounted for nine of the 14 runs on the day.

Rudnik and the Yellow Jackets are back in action Wednesday at Georgia. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. at Jack Turner Stadium.
